Terms & Conditions

The truth of the matter is that I'm not a lawyer, and perhaps unfortunately, the number of laws out there greatly exceeds the ability of any one person to know them all. Even so, I have no wish to have a long, complicated agreement that no one reads and even fewer understand. As such, for the time being, I'll instead list a few guidelines about the site, primarily dealing with copyright issues.

  1. All of my original content (which includes blog entries, articles, forum posts, and essentially anything else on the site, unless labeled otherwise) is licensed for anything you may wish to do with it. You may, without limitation, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, and/or sell copies and permit others to do so as well. Depending on your local laws, you may not even be required to attribute it to me. However, copying something I've written and passing it off as your own is still plagiarism and is a pretty rotten thing to do, but I have no right to compel you to mention me. I would, however, appreciate any and all links.
  2. Forum posts and blog comments (by people other than me) are a sticky subject. I certainly have no desire to "own" anything you may post here. However, in order to maintain the spirit of the site, I will assume that anyone posting here is implicitly agreeing to license their post under the same terms that I've licensed my own content in the previous point. I'm not entirely sure that would hold up in court without enforcing that people agree to this document, so it may or may not appear in the registration agreements for the forums and blog (if registration is necessary). In any case, if you're in the business of plagiarism, I'd be wary about copying anything posted by someone other than me.
  3. Users are responsible for the content of their posts and comments, and I expressly disclaim any responsibility. I will make a good-faith effort to remove any inappropriate content (whatever that means), but I am only human, and mistakes are bound to happen.

If, for whatever reason, I decide to make changes to these terms that might result in changes in what you can do with the information found here, the change will be announced at least one week in advance. I can't imagine there would be any significant changes like that, though. If anything in this document bothers you, or if you have comments, suggestions, or questions, don't hesitate to contact me via e-mail or the forums.
